Muse Forest is a museum park located in Karuizawa, featuring the Karuizawa Picture Book Forest Museum and a picturesque garden, as well as the Erz Toy Museum Karuizawa. The Karuizawa Picture Book Forest Museum primarily focuses on Western picture books and displays original illustrations and first editions. They organize special exhibitions 2-3 times a year. The museum also houses a Picture Book Library with approximately 1,500 books that visitors can read. Additionally, there's a permanent exhibition called "Peter Rabbit's Secret Room," and the "Forest House" event space is available for various MICE events and parties. The park's grounds also include the "Picturesque Garden," designed by landscape designer Paul Smith, which allows visitors to enjoy both cultural and artistic experiences and the natural beauty of Karuizawa, particularly its native plants. The Erz Toy Museum Karuizawa showcases traditional wooden crafts with a history of over 300 years from the Erz region in Germany, including items like nutcrackers and Christmas pyramids. It also features high-quality educational toys from Europe. The museum complex includes shops like "Wooden Toy Shop" and "Picture Book Shop," as well as the café "Rue," providing a leisurely environment for visitors to spend their time.
